Mandan, North Dakota resident, Ann Linton Hodge, is the current Rough Rider Artist
for the Hall of Fame in North Dakota's Capitol. In that capacity she has painted Richard Halverson, Chaplain of the
United States Senate, now retired, and former State Representative Brynhild Haugland, the longest serving state
legislator in the country. She has also completed portraits of prominent North Dakota citizens, such as former Governor
Art Link and his wife, Grace; Air Force General Alexander Macdonald; North Dakota Municipal Court Judge, the Honorable
William F. Hodny; former North Dakota Supreme Court Judge, the Honorable Keith Wolberg; and a large number of North
Dakota state legislators. Ann has also painted numerous murals for businesses in California.Ann studied with internationally recognized master portrait artist, Carroll Jones, Jr. in his school of fine arts, and has received hands-on teaching in California from other nationally notable artists. She has received recognition in Who's Who In the Arts, and is represented by North Dakota and Arizona internationally acclaimed master landscape artist, Gary P. Miller, and his wife, Darla. Ann is a teacher for all levels of student ability in her school of fine arts known as The Renaissance Palette. Her specialty is portraiture. She is a strong advocate of egg tempera oil, an ancient, time-tested method of achieving extraordinary lifelikeness and durability in paintings. The egg tempera methods and formulas which were developed by the Dutch and Italian masters of the Renaissance era are used exclusively in oil paintings at her studio and school. Beginning January, 1996, Ann will be teaching college art credit courses for Bismarck State College. In addition, she continues to take private commissions.
