Vern Skaug
Vern SkaugVern Skaug has been portrait artist for the North Dakota Rough Rider Hall of Fame for the last twenty years.

A North Dakota native, Vern is self taught. He spent fourteen years in Southern California beginning as a portrait artist in Disneyland and later moved to Laguna Beach where he participated in the annual Laguna Festival of Arts.

Bette Davis, Julie Harris, Liza Minelli, Barbara Streisand and Mae West are among some of the celebrities having portraits by Vern, and "1980" was selected as one of two hundred for auction in the Charlie Russell show in Great Falls, Montana.

Vern's latest work can be seen at the Harold Schafer Heritage Center in Medora, North Dakota. This 10' by 12' montage portrait depicts Schafer's long successful career as salesman, business owner, visionary and public benefactor.

Vern has returned to North Dakota and has his studio in Minot.
