In commemoration of the bicentennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition of 1803-1806, it shall be the mission of the Governor's Lewis & Clark Advisory Committee to be the official recognized leader in planning and coordinating the observance of the Bicentennial in North Dakota. The committee shall provide statewide focus, direction and oversight, while facilitating the effective delivery of technical guidance and assistance to communities, groups and individuals. The committee will focus on public education, development of infrastructure, promotion of tourism, coordination of events, the promotion of historical and cultural awareness, recognition of Native American involvement and responsible stewardship for the natural and cultural resources along the route of the Expedition.
