Hoeven's Political Office Manager Resigns
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today issued the following statement:
This morning I asked for and received the resignation of Connie Johnsen, the manager of my political office. Late last night, she informed me that earlier this week, and without my knowledge, she made up a backdated letter and $450 check to Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad, and submitted copies to the Attorney General.
I immediately told her not to come into the office, and this morning obtained her letter of resignation. She submitted the false documents to the Attorney General inappropriately to indicate reimbursement to BNSF for use of their dining car for a fundraiser last summer, when in fact, that reimbursement was not made.
Whether or not I am even required to make any reimbursement will be determined by the Attorney General’s opinion, but I cannot permit her inappropriate action. In her letter of resignation, Connie expresses deep regret for her actions. I regret them, too.
