Hoeven Appoints Citizens To State Boards
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven recently named several citizens to the following state boards:
Howard Wrigley of Fargo and Representative James Boehm of Mandan have been appointed five-year terms on the Racing Commission. Wrigley owns and operates Wrigley Mechanical, Inc. and Boehm is a farmer. The Racing Commission oversees the regulatory functions of live and off-track horse racing and disburses funds from simulcast racing.
Clarence Corneil of Dickinson has been appointed to a five-year term on the Teachers’ Fund for Retirement. Corneil is a retired educator and owns a seasonal store. The Board manages the state’s teachers’ retirement fund.
Diane Torgeson of Williston has been appointed to a three-year term on the Independent Living Council. Bob Gomez and Helen Baumgartner of Bismarck have been re-appointed to three-year terms on the Council. Torgeson is the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at Northwest Human Service Center; Gomez is president of the North Dakota Fair Housing Council; Baumgartner is a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist with the Department of Human Services - Vocational Rehabilitation. The Council works to establish and expand Independent Living services that meet the needs of people with disabilities in the state.
Carol Dobitz of Fargo has been appointed to a five-year term on the Board of Accountancy. Dobitz is the Dean of the College of Business at Minnesota State University at Moorhead. The Board is responsible for the examination, certification, and licensing of certified public accountants and the licensing of public accountants. The Board determines standards of integrity, education, and proficiency and is empowered to suspend or revoke certification upon investigation and proof of misconduct.
