BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today addressed the 13th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum, sponsored by the United States Energy Association and Johnson Controls, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The topic of the forum was “Evolution of the Energy Economy: Ensuring Security and Stability.”
The Governor received the Association’s 2002 Energy Governor’s Leadership Award for promoting energy efficiency. The award recognizes a current or former holder of a state-level elective office who has made a significant contribution at the state government level to energy efficiency.
“I’m honored to receive this award on behalf of hardworking North Dakotans throughout state government -- dedicated public employees who are committed to energy efficiency and saving taxpayers dollars,” Hoeven said. “The forum was also a good opportunity to talk to energy leaders about the important steps North Dakota is taking in the development of a variety of energy sources to create jobs in our state and meet our nation’s energy needs.”
A news release issued by Johnson Controls, a cosponsor of the Energy Efficiency Forum, announcing the Governor’s Award, and the text of Governor Hoeven’s remarks to the 13th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum are attached.
