Hoeven Announces FEMA, USFA Awards To Five Rural N.D. Fire Departments
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) has awarded a total of $170,636 to five North Dakota rural fire departments in the sixth round of awards under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is administered by the USFA, a part of FEMA.
“Recent droughts and wildfires in our state have driven home the courage and dedication of our firefighters,” Hoeven said. “We owe these men and women a great debt of gratitude. This money will help to ensure their safety as they go about their very important work.”
On September 15, 2002, FEMA and the USFA made their largest grant award announcement in the history of the program. This announcement exceeds even the previous amounts both in number of awards and the amount of the financial package.
The following North Dakota fire departments have been announced as award recipients in the sixth round of grants:
| Rugby Vol. Fire Dept. | Rugby | Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety | $24,750 |
