Citizens Step Up For State Service

BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven recently appointed several citizens to serve on state boards:

Linda Holien of Minot, Joan Enderle of Jamestown and Karl Lembke of Bismarck have been reappointed to three-year terms on the Dietetic Practice Board. Holien operates the Dairy Queen restaurants in Minot; Enderle is a dietician at the Jamestown Hospital; Lembke is a pharmaceutical representative at Sanofi Phramaceuticals. The Board is responsible for licensing dieticians in the state.

Brad Maasjo of Fargo, Robert Volk of Harvey, Gary Skarphol of Williston, Paul Smathers of Edgeley, John Coyne of Minot and Jim Johnson of Stanton have been appointed to three-year terms on the Administrative Committee on Veterans Affairs. Maasjo is retired as a full Colonel from the U.S. Airforce, and is past vice commander and chief of staff for the 91st Space Wing in Minot; Volk is retired from AT&T; Skarphol is a maintenance superintendent with the Department of Transportation; Smathers is the local veterans employment representative at Job Service North Dakota; Coyne is a retired deputy sheriff; Johnson is state’s attorney for Mercer County. The Committee oversees the Veterans Home and its administration and the Commissioner of Veterans Affairs’ Office.

Jody Hauge of Carson and Tara Holt of Bismarck have been appointed to four-year terms on the Commission on the Status of Women. Hauge is owner and partner of the Blue Hill Ranch and Feedlot; Holt is program director for the Center for Technology and Business/Women and Technology. The Commission coordinates activities and serves as a clearinghouse and advisory group to the Division of Economic Development and Finance for information relating to economic development programs that focus on career development for women.

Janice Dubois-Delorme of Belcourt has been appointed to a two-year term on the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group. Dubois-Delorme is director of social services for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. The Group recommends where to award grant money to local juvenile justice projects and advises the Legislature and Governor regarding juvenile justice programs.
