Hoeven Announces Job Service North Dakota Training Package For CrossUSA Of Watford City

BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven today announced that Job Service North Dakota will provide CrossUSA, a Watford City-based information technology firm, with a training package to prepare employees for a major new contract.

CrossUSA had announced last August that it would close its doors in western North Dakota by October 31, but recently won a contract with a Minneapolis-based health care company. The training package and new contract, secured with the assistance of local economic development agencies, enables CrossUSA to continue operations, retain employees and hire new employees. Under the contract, the company will develop information technology software and maintain applications for the Twin City health-care firm.

“We worked hard to keep CrossUSA in Watford City, and we will continue to work to help them maintain and build their employment in the city,” Hoeven said.

Job Service North Dakota will provide CrossUSA with new technology and training expenses for existing employees and up to 10 new employees, Hoeven said. CrossUSA has added six employees to its current six, and has said it has room for growth. Training of the new employees has already begun.

“Governor Hoeven has been very helpful in working with CrossUSA to get this new contract off the ground,” said Ross Graba, CrossUSA’s Vice President for Business Development. “With the training necessary for our Watford City staff to take on the new workload, this assistance is vital. We are looking forward to working with Governor Hoeven and his administration this next year to market our success story in Watford City to potential clients to bring more technology work and jobs to North Dakota and Watford City."

Instrumental in helping the company make the transition are the Watford City Chamber of Commerce and Gene Veeder at the McKenzie County Job Development Authority. CrossUSA has worked actively to market Watford City to potential clients, according to Graba.
