Hoeven assumes chairmanship of Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC) today installed a new slate of officers at the commission's Annual Meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas. The new officers will serve under the leadership of North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven who succeeds Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. Hoeven is the third North Dakota governor to serve as chairman of the IOGCC.

Russell J. Harding is the organization's vice chairman. Harding is the director of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Lynn Helms, director of the North Dakota Industrial Commission's Oil and Gas Division is now the IOGCC's second vice chairman. Don Mason, utility commissioner of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, is the new second vice chairman-elect.

The IOGCC, representing the governors of 30 member states and seven associate states, promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment. Established by the member states' governors in 1935, it is among the oldest and largest interstate compacts in the nation.
