Hoeven Announces $250,304 In Fire Grants To N.D. Communities
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have released $250,304 in grant funds for fire operations and firefighter safety to several rural North Dakota communities through the 2002 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The award recipients for North Dakota are:
- Mountain Fire Department: $25,326
- Edinburg Fire Protection District: $44,168
- Grand Forks Fire Department: $99,810
- Valley City Fire Department: $81,000
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperation effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. More than 5,000 departments will receive over $360 million to support fire protection, Emergency Medical Services delivery, vehicle purchase and prevention programs in 2002.
