Hoeven Announces $113,193 In Community Fire Grants
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have released $113,193 in grant funds for fire operations and firefighter safety to several rural North Dakota communities through the 2002 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The award recipients for North Dakota are:
- Bottineau Rural Fire District: $23,256
- Ellendale Fire Protection District: $23,850
- West Fargo Fire Department: $54,390
- Karlsruhe Rural Fire Department: $11,697
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperation effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. FEMA and the USFA expect to announce a total of at least 5,500 grants before the end of January 2003. The total of all awards, when completed, will represent a $360 million investment to enhance fire and EMS services delivery nationwide.
The Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments through the United States. A list of all current award recipients announced to date is posted on the USFA website at www.usfa.fema.gov/grants. Future grant recipients will be listed as the awards are made.
