Hoeven Names Citizens to State Boards
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. Hoeven recently appointed several citizens to serve on state boards:
Craig Smith and John Olson of Bismarck have been appointed to three-year terms on the Parole Board. Smith is an attorney with Fleck, Mather & Strutz, Ltd. Olson is an attorney with Olson Cichy Attorneys PC. The Board reviews applications from prisoners of the North Dakota State Penitentiary. Smith has also been appointed to an open-ended term on the Pardon Advisory Board, which provides information and makes recommendations to the governor concerning any matters involving pardons or commutations of sentence.
Allan Nelson of Fargo has been appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Barber Examiners. Nelson owns The Barber Hut. The Board supervises and regulates the education and practice of barbers.
Mary Dasovick of Bismarck has been appointed to a four-year term on the State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Dasovick is the domestic violence/rape crisis program director and senior Maternal/Child Health nurse consultant with the State Health Department, Maternal and Child Health Division. The Council advocates for policy changes that promote choice, independence, productivity and inclusion for all North Dakotans with developmental disabilities.
Mike Durbin of Devils Lake has been appointed to a four-year term on the Board of Hearing Instrument Specialists. Dr. James Frisk of Fargo has been reappointed to the Board. Durbin is a hearing care practitioner at Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Devils Lake. Dr. Frisk is an otolaryngologist in private practice. The Board regulates the vendors of hearing aids and implements.
