Hoevens Name Grand Forks Red River High School Concert Choir 2003 Governor's Chorus
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven and First Lady Mikey L. Hoeven today announced that the Grand Forks Red River High School Concert Choir has been named the 2003 Governor’s Chorus.
The Grand Forks Red River High School Concert Choir is an auditioned ensemble at Red River High School, comprised of 69 students in grades 11-12. Lauded with numerous musical achievements, the choir has a long tradition of excellence in the performance of fine choral literature. They have commissioned numerous works and performed for some of the finest conductors in the country, gaining national recognition for their musicianship, artistry and educational merit.
The Red River High School Concert Choir performs extensively in the community and throughout the upper Midwest. They shared in the Grammy Signature School Award in 1999-2000, are past recipients of the American Music Conference Award, and currently are participants in the Kennedy Center Performing Arts Program.
The Red River High School Concert Choir also boasts a strong tradition of community involvement and participation.
The Chorus performs under the direction of Grand Forks Red River High School Music Coordinator (Vocal Music) Brad Sherwood.
