Hoevens Name Tioga High School Band 2003 Governor's Band
BISMARCK, N.D. - Governor John Hoeven and First Lady Mikey L. Hoeven today announced that the Tioga High School Band has been named the 2003 Governor’s Band.
The Tioga High School Band is an 80-member ensemble comprised of students in grades 9-12, and has been recognized as one of the finest Class B bands in western North Dakota.
The Tioga High School Band performances include the Community Café Christmas Concert, the Farm Festival Parade, Memorial Day services, high school sporting events, various community events and two annual concerts. The band has also performed at the Bismarck Band Night Parade, the Williston Band Day Parade and the Parade at Valley Fair in Shakopee, Minn.
Individual performers and ensembles from the Tioga High School Band compete in regional and state musical contests. Last spring, 35 solos and ensembles advanced to the state music contest, bringing home 143 gold medals.
The Band performs under the direction of Tioga High School Band Director Nancy Olson.
