Hoeven Statement On North Dakota's Intervention In Manitoba's Naws Lawsuit
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to a federal judge’s ruling that North Dakota can intervene in Manitoba’s lawsuit over the Northwest Area Water Supply project (NAWS):
“The Province of Manitoba has filed a lawsuit to halt the Northwest Area Water Supply project. We had hoped the judge would dismiss the case. Since he has not, however, we will intervene in the case aggressively to defend North Dakota’s vital water interests. The NAWS water pipeline is critical to the communities of Northwestern North Dakota, and we will continue construction on the pipeline as planned.”
