Hoeven Announces $224,569 In Fire Grants For Dunseith, Mohall, Mayville And The Spirit Lake Tribe
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have released $224,569 in grant funds to be divided among fire departments in Dunseith, Mohall, Mayville and the Spirit Lake Tribe at Fort Totten.
The grants break down to $35,145 for the Dunseith Fire Protection District; $12,191 for the Mohall Fire Department; and $37,733 for the Mayville Volunteer Fire Department for fire operations and firefighter safety programs in each of these districts. The Spirit Lake Fire Department will receive $139,500 for use toward a firefighting vehicle.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperative effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. FEMA and the USFA expect to announce a total of approximately 7,000 grants this year. The total of all awards, when completed, will represent a $750 million investment to enhance fire and EMS services delivery nationwide.
