Hoeven Announces $127,125 in Fire Grants for Rock Lake, New Town, Lamoure and Trenton

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have released $127,125 in grant funds to be divided between the Rock Lake Rural Fire Protection District, New Town Volunteer Fire Department, the LaMoure Fire Department and the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department.

The grant breaks down to $40,500 for the Rock Lake Rural Fire Protection District, $10,800 for the New Town Volunteer Fire Department, $63,000 for the LaMoure Fire Department and $12,825 for the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department. The grants are to be used for fire operations and firefighter safety programs in each district.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperative effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. FEMA and the USFA expect to announce a total of approximately 7,000 grants this year. The total of all awards, when completed, will represent a $750 million investment to enhance fire and EMS services delivery nationwide.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments through the United States. Current information on grant requests by state is posted on the USFA website at www.usfa.fema.gov/inside-usfa/03requests.cfm. Future grant recipients will be listed as the awards are made.
