Hoeven Announces USDA Rural Development Funding
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that North Dakota will receive more than $4.2 million in grant and loan assistance from USDA Rural Development.
“I am pleased with the funding from USDA Rural Development,” said Hoeven. “It is important to continually update public infrastructure for our rural residents.”
The Three Affiliated Tribes in New Town will receive a grant of $958,000 to be used towards updating tribal water systems. The Three Affiliated Tribes were also awarded a loan of $1.85 million to build a new detention center.
The City of New Town has been awarded a grant of $640,000 and a loan in the amount of $785,000. The purpose of the funding is to replace water mains and water service lines within the city of New Town. The project will also include upgrading transmission piping from the new water treatment plant to the elevated water storage reservoir.
The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians in Belcourt will receive a grant of $50,000. The funding will be used to repair and rehabilitate 10 housing units owned by low-income residents.
