Hoeven Names Houdek Counsel
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today named Duane Houdek legal counsel to the office of the Governor. Houdek has been serving as senior staff advisor since the beginning of the Hoeven administration, working primarily in the areas of health and human services.
“Duane has been a valued member of the team, not only because of his knowledge of the law, but more importantly, because of his hard work and concern for the people of North Dakota,” Hoeven said. “I’m pleased he’s coming on board in a new role.”
A native of Minto, North Dakota, Houdek graduated from UND in 1971 and the UND School of Law in 1974. He spent his legal career in Bismarck, as a law clerk for former Chief Justice Ralph Erickstad, in private practice, as Bismarck Municipal Judge, and as litigation director for the state’s legal services programs.
“I consider it a great privilege to serve Governor Hoeven in this capacity, and I look forward to these new responsibilities”, Houdek stated.
