The grant breaks down to $26,370 for the Hettinger Fire Protection District, and $74,493 for the Hatton Volunteer Fire Protection District, to be used for fire operations and firefighter safety programs in each district. The Medina Fire Protection District will receive $67,500 use towards the purchase of a firefighting vehicle.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperative effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. FEMA and the USFA expect to announce a total of approximately 7,000 grants this year. The total of all awards, when completed, will represent a $750 million investment to enhance fire and EMS services delivery nationwide.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments through the United States.
