Hoeven Names Citizens To State Boards
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. Hoeven recently appointed several citizens to serve on state boards:
James Boehm of Mandan has been appointed chairman of the Racing Commission. Boehm, who is a Morton County farmer, will serve as chairman until his term ends on July 1, 2005. The Racing Commission oversees the regulatory functions of live and off-track horse racing and disburses funds from simulcast racing.
Shawneen Voiles of Minot and Jon Kringen of Enderlin have been appointed to four-year terms on the Education Technology Council. Voiles is a teacher in the Minot Public School District, and Kringen is the Superintendent of Enderlin Public Schools. The Council works with state agencies to develop statewide educational technology systems, and tracks the progress and direction of educational technology in North Dakota.
James Burbidge of Mohall has been reappointed to a four-year term on the Wheat Commission. Burbidge is a Renville County farmer. The Commission works to improve the economic well-being of the state’s wheat producers by developing, promoting and servicing domestic and international markets.
Gerald Balzer of Bismarck, Carl Bloomquist of Devils Lake, Eugene Bernhardt of West Fargo, Richard Ryan of Bismarck and Orletta Kilen of Almont have been appointed to three-year terms on the Administrative Committee on Veterans Affairs. Balzer is retired from North Dakota Job Service; Bloomquist is a retired farmer and counselor; Bernhardt is a tax accountant and owner of GB Income Tax Services; Kilen is a Registered Nurse at the North Dakota State Penitentiary; and Ryan is retired from the U.S. Department of Labor. The committee oversees the Veterans Home and the Commissioner’s of Veterans Affairs Office.
