Hoeven Announces $213,435 In Grants For North Dakota Fire Departments

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) have released $213,435 in grant funds to fire departments in Rolla, Michigan, Emerado and Linton.

The grant breaks down to $49,662 for the Rolla Volunteer Fire Department, $63,549 for the Michigan Whitman Fire Protection District, $88,920 for the Emerado Volunteer Fire Department and $11,304 for the Linton Fire District to be used for fire operations and firefighter safety programs in each district.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is designed as a cooperative effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States. FEMA and the USFA expect to announce a total of approximately 7,000 grants this year. The total of all awards, when completed, will represent a $750 million investment to enhance fire and EMS services delivery nationwide.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments through the United States. Current information on grant requests by state is posted on the USFA website. Future grant recipients will be listed as the awards are made.
