Hoeven Calls For Vigilance And Assistance To Recover Missing UND Student
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven has directed the N.D. Highway Patrol and state agencies to provide all assistance possible to the Grand Forks Police Department in its efforts to safely recover Dru Sjodin. The 22-year-old University of North Dakota student was reportedly abducted last Saturday evening at the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks. The North Dakota Highway Patrol and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are aggressively working with Grand Forks law enforcement authorities to find her.
The Governor has also called on the public to assist in the search for the missing young woman, and commended all volunteers in the Grand Forks area and elsewhere who are actively aiding law enforcement authorities with the search. In addition, Hoeven contacted Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown to offer any further state assistance that could be helpful.
“We all need to pull together in North Dakota fashion to try to bring Dru home safely,” Hoeven said. “The public, as well as our state agencies, need to be vigilant and alert for any sign that might lead to her recovery. I know I speak on behalf of all North Dakotans, when I say our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.”
Dru has blond hair and blue eyes. She stands about 5’7”, and weighs about 130 pounds.
