Hoeven Commends Military On Capture Of Saddam Hussein
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement on the capture of Saddam Hussein Saturday in Iraq:
“Saturday was a big day for America and a big day for the world. The capture of Saddam Hussein represents a great moral victory for the United States, and a great achievement for the brave men and women of our military who are fighting the War on Terrorism. Because of their resolute efforts, this evil tyrant will be made accountable to the world for his crimes against humanity. We are enormously proud of our soldiers, especially all of our troops from North Dakota - our National Guard, Reserve and active duty military.
“We are also happy for the people of Iraq, who are now one step closer to freedom and security in their homeland. It’s too soon to say how the capture will affect the rotation of our troops, but this is a positive development in moving us forward and making our country safer.”
