Hoeven Announces More Than $1.7 Million In Continuum Of Care Grants
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that five North Dakota organizations will receive more than $1.7 million in Continuum of Care grants to assist displaced individuals in the state, primarily women, children and veterans.
The grants will specifically fund transitional and permanent housing projects in Fargo, Grand Forks and Bismarck, providing homeless persons and families with options for attaining a permanent home and self-sufficiency.
“There are people in this state who are displaced from their homes for many reasons, from domestic violence to substance abuse,” Hoeven said. “These grants will make it possible for individuals and families to have a home and a life of hope and independence.”
The North Dakota Continuum of Care Plan is a long-term, comprehensive planning and development initiative that identifies and addresses the causes of homelessness and the needs of the homeless in the state. The North Dakota Coalition of Homeless People is the lead entity overseeing the development and implementation of the plan, with assistance from several organizations statewide.
“Improving the quality of life for all North Dakotans is fundamental to building the future of our state,” Hoeven said. “I commend the working relationships between our state agencies and our Continuum of Care coalition members for their efforts in meeting the needs of our displaced women, children and veterans.”
The following North Dakota organizations were awarded Continuum of Care grants:
| YWCA of Fargo-Moorhead | $427,040 |
| Community Violence Intervention Center | $189,610 |
| Centre, Inc. | $236,862 |
| Fargo Housing & Redevelopment Authority | $192,504 |
| Burleigh County Housing Authority | $733,500 |
