Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On The Return Of The 916th Engineer Detachment
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to the return of the 916th Engineer Detachment:
“Mikey and I, and all of North Dakota, welcome the return of the soldiers of the 916th Engineer Detachment, who were mobilized last March in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and who will be returning home this evening.
“When our country needed them, these brave soldiers left their families, jobs and friends to serve our country. We extend our gratitude and admiration for their sacrifices and wish them the best as they resume their lives at home in the peace and freedom for which they served. We look forward to the official welcoming ceremony, currently scheduled for February 21.
“As we welcome home the 916th, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the men and women of our National Guard, Reserves and active duty military who are still in harm’s way.”
