Hoeven To Meet With Grand Forks Base Retention Committee

Media Availability to Follow Meeting

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven will meet Tuesday, February 17 with the Grand Forks Base Retention Committee to discuss strategies for retaining the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Col. Mark Ramsey, Wing Commander, will brief Hoeven and the committee at the Grand Forks AFB.

Also in attendance will be retired Air Force Chief of Staff General Ronald R. Fogleman. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Fogleman served as a military advisor to the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council and the President.

James L. Owsley, former senior member of the 1995 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission; Maj. Gen. Michael Haugen, North Dakota Adjutant General and chairman of the Governor’s Task Force on Military Affairs; and John Marshall, chairman of the Council on Military Relations for Grand Forks, will also attend the meeting.

Hoeven and the attendees will be available to the media for questions at the Alerus Center, Eagle Room, at 12:15 p.m.
