Hoeven Announces Fire Grants For Fargo And Niagara

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the Fargo and Niagara fire departments will receive a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the United States Fire Administration (USFA) to be used for fire operations and firefighter safety programs.

Through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program, the Fargo Fire Department will receive $70,317 and the Niagara Fire District will receive $21,474 to train firefighters, purchase firefighting and personal protective equipment, and modify fire stations and facilities.

The AFG program is designed as a cooperative effort between FEMA and the U.S. Congress to enhance basic fire service delivery across the United States and provide departments with the tools and resources necessary to protect the health and safety of the public and their firefighting personnel.

FEMA and the USFA have awarded approximately 7,000 grants, representing a $750 million investment in enhancing fire and EMS services delivery nationwide. More information regarding fire grants is posted on the USFA website.
