Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On Alien Technology's Decision To Commence Production

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to Alien Technology's commencing RFID tag assembly at North Dakota State University:

"We are pleased that Alien Technology intends to expand its presence at North Dakota State University and begin assembly and testing of its RFID tags in the next 90 days. Stav Prodromou, the company's CEO, has informed us that they'll hire 30 people within the next 90 days, including technicians, and human resource and engineering personnel. They will begin construction on their own facility when volume requires it, with a target timeline within the next six to 12 months.

"Alien also informed us they will develop this facility in a staged approach, first leasing space, then constructing their facility as ramp up requires. North Dakota is committed to working with the company, as we have in the past, to ensure their success in our state."
