Hoeven Setting Up NTSB Meeting In Minot
Governor Requests Meeting on Causes of Derailment for Residents, Officials
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today asked National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Ellen Engleman-Conners to attend a town hall meeting in Minot following release of the agency’s summary report on the Canadian Pacific Railway accident of January 18, 2002. Engleman-Conners agreed to attend and provide residents and officials with an opportunity to discuss the board’s findings. The full NTSB report is pending final revisions.
“We’re working to schedule a meeting with Chairwoman Engleman-Conners within a month,” Hoeven said. “This was a tragic incident that resulted in the loss of one life and many injuries. We want every measure taken to ensure that the railroad has the best safety measures in place to avoid this kind of accident in the future.”
