Hoeven Appoints Herman To East Central District Judgeship
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that he has appointed Douglas R. Herman to the East Central Judicial District Judgeship, chambered in Fargo. Herman brings a history of accomplishments and skills to the position, according to Hoeven.
“Doug brings not only a wealth of experience to this judgeship, but also a range of interpersonal skills that will serve the bench well,” Hoeven said. “His all-around experience and outstanding performance will be a great asset to the district.”
Herman graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1975 and has been admitted into the Oklahoma, North Dakota and Minnesota bars. Between 1977 and 1997 he was a partner with the Vogel Law Firm in Fargo, and in 1997, he became General Counsel for Great Plains Software, Inc. Since 2001, he has served as a senior attorney with the Microsoft Corp.
Herman said recently in support of his candidacy for the judgeship, “After 28 years of interesting and varied legal practice, I believe that it is time to give something back to the profession and to the people of the State of North Dakota.”
“We had very fine candidates in the final round, making it a difficult decision,” Hoeven said. “Doug Herman brings an outstanding record of accomplishment and will be an outstanding judge.”
