Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On Dedication Of The World War II Memorial
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued a statement on the dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. this weekend:
“The dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. is a tribute to a generation of Americans who quite literally saved the world. They defended our nation with courage and honor and fought for a broader cause of peace and freedom. I join our state and nation in celebrating the memorial and the sacrifice and achievement it commemorates.
“On behalf of the people of North Dakota, I want to thank all of our veterans from across the state and nation for their outstanding service. I also want to thank our brave men and women of the National Guard, Reserves and active duty military who are again defending the very freedoms and ideals that all Americans cherish.
“On this Memorial Day weekend, we pause especially to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our liberties and our way of life. We will always remember and honor them.”
