Hoeven Announces Assistance To Firefighters Grant To Aid Wilton's Fire Department
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven announced today that the community of Wilton will receive a grant from the Department of Homeland Security in the eighth round of the Fiscal Year 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The Wilton Fire Protection District will receive $159,498 to enhance their local operations and firefighter safety programs.
The grant program, administered by the Department’s Office for Domestic Preparedness in cooperation with the United States Fire Administration (USFA), was established to ensure that America’s firefighters have the resources they need to protect their communities and themselves.
Over the next several months, approximately 8,000 grants worth nearly $750 million in direct assistance will be awarded to fire departments throughout the country to assist in purchasing firefighting equipment, funding health and safety programs, enhancing medical services programs and conducting fire education and prevention programs.
