Hoeven Announces Assistance To Firefighters Grants To Aid North Dakota Fire Departments
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that the communities of Edinburg and Max will receive grants from the Department of Homeland Security in the tenth round of the Fiscal Year 2004 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The Edinburg Fire Protection District will receive $52,605 to enhance firefighting operations and firefighter safety programs. The Max Rural Fire Protection District No. 1 will receive $71,005 to purchase a firefighting vehicle.
The grant program, administered by the Department’s Office for Domestic Preparedness in cooperation with the United States Fire Administration (USFA), was established to ensure that America’s firefighters have the resources they need to protect their communities and themselves.
Over the next several months, approximately 8,000 grants worth nearly $750 million in direct assistance will be awarded to fire departments throughout the country to assist in purchasing firefighting equipment, funding health and safety programs, enhancing medical services programs and conducting fire education and prevention programs.
