Hoeven Welcomes Rimrock Trailways To North Dakota
New Bus Line CEO Explains Service Details
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today officially welcomed Rimrock Trailways as the newest bus service in North Dakota. U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan joined the Governor via telephone. Rimrock Trailways CEO Tom Forseth and state transportation director David Sprynczynatyk joined Hoeven in Bismarck. Rimrock Trailways will begin service in North Dakota on Wednesday, August 18.
“Many North Dakotans, for both leisure and essential travel, have come to depend on bus service for affordable and convenient transportation,” Hoeven said. “Rimrock Trailways has stepped up to fill a real need in our state. We’re grateful to them and to all who worked so hard to secure service for citizens across North Dakota.”
“Bus service is a really important part of our transportation network, and I’m pleased that Rimrock Trailways has chosen to continue service in North Dakota without any interruption,” Dorgan said. “This will be welcome news to many North Dakotans who rely on the bus to stay linked with their families and communities. There was a lot of cooperation by many North Dakota citizens and state and local officials to accomplish this.”
Rimrock Trailways announced July 15 the company would operate in North Dakota, shortly after Greyhound Bus Lines notified state officials that it would no longer provide bus service in the state. Rimrock Trailways CEO Tom Forseth detailed the company’s initial schedule of service. Rimrock Trailways will provide one eastbound and one westbound bus per day.
The westbound bus will leave Fargo at 11:00 p.m., making stops in Valley City, Jamestown, Steele, Sterling Corner, Bismarck, Richardton, Dickinson, Belfield, and Medora, before arriving in Beach at 5:55 a.m. The eastbound bus will leave Beach at 5:50 a.m. and take the same route, arriving in Fargo at 2:05 p.m. Forseth has said that he would like to provide a minimum of two buses each day, and that Rimrock Trailways would take another look at its schedule once the initial schedule is studied.
Two other bus lines will continue to provide service to North Dakota travelers. New Town Bus Line and Jefferson Bus Line provides schedules that allow northern North Dakota travelers to connect to Rimrock Trailways in Bismarck and Fargo, and Greyhound in Fargo.
“Having multiple bus lines in the state gives residents across North Dakota access to inter-city and inter-state bus service,” said NDDOT Director David Sprynczynatyk. “We are fortunate that we have four bus lines, Rimrock Trailways, New Town Bus Line, Jefferson Bus Line, and Greyhound, to meet the traveling needs of North Dakota.”
