Exporting To China: Opportunities For North Dakota
Lt. Gov. Dalrymple, North Dakota Trade Office To Host Seminar
BISMARCK, N.D. - Lt. Governor Jack Dalrymple and the North Dakota Trade Office will host a China Export Seminar on Wednesday, September 15, at Dawson Hall at West Fargo's Bonanzaville from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. This seminar is open to any businessperson exporting or interested in exporting to China. China has been identified as a market to pursue based on recent North Dakota Trade Office research.
Sean King, Special Assistant for China at U.S. Commercial Service Washington D.C. office, and Merry Shujuan Cao, Commercial Specialist with the U.S. Embassy-Beijing, will speak about the opportunities for North Dakota exporters in China.
Dalrymple and King will present the U.S. Commercial Service Export Achievement Certificate to a North Dakota business experiencing rapid growth in new international markets.
King and Cao will present tips for developing successful distribution in China, discuss North Dakota exporting opportunities and barriers in China, as well as overcoming myths and mistakes when dealing in Asia.
King heads domestic outreach for the U.S. Commercial Service designed to help U.S. companies discover export opportunities and sell their goods and services in China. In addition to coordinating incoming trade leads, King organizes outgoing trade missions. He accompanied U.S. Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans and members of the President's Export Council (PEC) in China last June.
In her position at the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service (USFCS), Cao works to increase sales of U.S. goods and services in China. She has extensive consulting experience with private and public entities on both sides of the Pacific. Cao has published numerous commercial guides and market briefs for a wide array of industry sectors and has managed more than 17 high level China trade missions.
Area businesses with experience in China will also participate in a question and answer panel to share expertise.
Also sponsoring this event are the U.S. Commercial Service, Fargo Cass County Economic Development Corporation, the Fargo Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center.
A complimentary box lunch will be served. To place your reservation, or for more information, contact Cherie Harms at Cherie@exportnd.com or by calling (701) 319-2275.
