Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On The Death Of Pvt. 1st Class Anthony William Monroe
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to the death of Pvt. 1st Class Anthony William Monroe who died in Iraq early Monday morning as a result of enemy mortar fire:
“Mikey and I join all North Dakotans in mourning the loss of Pvt. 1st Class Anthony Monroe. His family and friends have our deepest sympathy. Anthony’s courage and dedication to serving his country will always be valued and remembered.
“All of our soldiers in the National Guard, the Reserves and the active duty military live and work every day under conditions of extreme danger to secure peace and defend our liberties. Our thoughts are with all of those who are still in harms way. We pray for their safe return.”
