BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven and First Lady Mikey Hoeven will pay tribute to North Dakota's service men and women on Veterans Day, November 11, by attending a memorial ceremony at 10:15 a.m. in the Heritage Center auditorium on the Capitol Grounds in Bismarck. The Governor will also honor North Dakota's veterans and those currently serving in the military by proclaiming tomorrow “Veterans Remembrance Day” in the state.
“The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting respect and gratitude,” Gov. Hoeven said. “On this day, we celebrate and honor the patriots who have fought, and those who continue to fight, to protect the democratic ideals that are the foundation of our state and nation.”
The Governor and First Lady will pay tribute to our nation's veterans and all active duty military personnel, Reservists and National Guard members who are deployed around the world fighting the war on terror. They will also honor the families of those who are serving for their sacrifices at home.
“As we observe Veterans Day, I encourage all North Dakotans to take a moment to honor the extraordinary contributions of our veterans throughout our nation's history and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedoms we cherish,” Gov. Hoeven said. “We continue to pray for the safe and speedy return of our brave men and women currently serving around the world.”
