Hoeven Announces More Than $1.3 Million In Grants For The Homeless
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that six North Dakota organizations will receive more than $1.3 million in Continuum of Care grants to assist the homeless.
The grants will specifically fund transitional and permanent supportive housing projects in Fargo, Grand Forks, Minot and Williston, providing homeless persons and families with options for attaining a permanent home and self-sufficiency.
“One of our most important obligations is taking care of our citizens in need,” Hoeven said. “These grants will help make a difference in the lives of individuals and families who are displaced from their homes and enduring hardships.”
The North Dakota Continuum of Care Plan is a long-term, comprehensive planning and development initiative that identifies and addresses the causes of homelessness and the needs of the homeless in the state. The North Dakota Coalition of Homeless People is the lead entity overseeing the development and implementation of the plan, with assistance from several organizations statewide.
“Improving the quality of life for all North Dakotans is integral to building a brighter future for our state,” Hoeven said. “By meeting the needs of homeless individuals, we are helping them get back on their feet and on their way to a life of hope and independence.”
The following North Dakota organizations were awarded Continuum of Care grants:
Red River Valley Community Action $464,782 ND Association for the Disabled $101,259 ShareHouse $150,000 Fargo Housing & Redevelopment Authority $160,656 Rehab Services, Inc. $317,477 Prairie Harvest Human Service Foundation $170,000
