Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On The Death Of Irv Melroe
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to news of the death of Irv Melroe, who with his father, Edward, and brothers, Lester, Clifford and Roger, founded the Melroe Company in 1947:
“Irv, his dad, and his brothers embodied the resourcefulness, practicality and work ethic of North Dakota. They created the reknowned Bobcat skid-steer loader, one of the world’s most successful and practical products, and in so doing, brought international fame to themselves and pride to North Dakota.
“From humble roots in Gwinner, where they opened their first factory in 1947, Melroe Company has grown into North Dakota’s largest manufacturer and one of our largest employers.
“Mikey and I extend our deepest sympathy to the Melroe family, and join friends and family in mourning the loss of a great North Dakota entrepreneur and inventor.”
