Hoeven Vetoes Three Bills, Four Line Items In Three Others

BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven this week vetoed two bills in their entirety, in addition to a third he vetoed during the session, and four sections in three other bills.

"We put forward a strong agenda, and believe the Legislature has delivered a productive session for the people of North Dakota," Hoeven said. "We appreciate their commitment and hard work."

The complete texts of the Governor's veto messages are attached. Hoeven vetoed the following bills in their entirety:

  • SB 2174 Home Escrow Accounts
  • HB 1301 Duplicative Bond Reporting Requirement.

In addition, Hoeven vetoed the four designated sections in the following three bills:

  • HB 1015, Sections 22 and 23 relating to restrictions on submission of the executive budget- Office of Management and Budget Bill:
  • SB 2012, Section 11, relating to an excise tax diversion - Department of Transportation Bill:
  • SB 2023, Section 6, relating to a Heritage Center capital project study - Capital Construction Bill.

Also, earlier in the session, Hoeven vetoed SB 2278, which would have allowed utilities to recover construction costs of a new plant prior to its completion, even if the plant were built outside North Dakota.
