Hoeven Names Patricia Olson Student Member Of State Board Of Higher Education
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today appointed Harvey native Patricia Olson to serve as the student representative on the State Board of Higher Education. Olson will be a senior at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and is pursuing a degree in finance.
"Patricia will be a great asset to the Board of Higher Education and a strong advocate for the students of North Dakota's university system," Hoeven said. "Her involvement with the North Dakota Student Association and her broad university and community service will help bring new ideas and student perspectives to the board."
Olson serves as a delegate to the North Dakota Student Association and as vice chair of the organization's finance committee. She will serve a one-year term on the board, effective July 1.
The nine-member State Board of Higher Education is the policy-setting body for the North Dakota University System. The board consists of seven citizen members appointed by the governor for four-year terms, one student appointed by the governor for a one-year term, and one faculty advisor selected by the Council of College Faculties.
