Hoeven: Air Force To Hold Media Availability On Future Of North Dakota Air Force Bases
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today said that Maj. Gen. Mike Haugen is in Washington, D.C. to advise Air Force and Air National Guard officials on future total force, or how best to allocate Air Force resources in the United States in the future. Haugen is one of three Adjutants General serving on the General Officers Steering Group.
“We continue to do all we can to push the interests of our bases,” Hoeven said. “That means exploring all avenues for new and emerging missions.”
Lt. Gen. Stephen Wood, Air Force deputy chief of staff of plans and programs, and Brig. Gen. Charles Ickes, deputy director of the Air National Guard, will hold a media roundtable tomorrow, June 3, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. EDT to discuss plans for Grand Forks Air Force Base. Media interested in participating in the roundtable either in person or via telephone can call Air Force Public Affairs 703-695-0640. The meeting will be held in Room 4E189 at the Pentagon.
According to Haugen, the roundtable will focus on emerging missions that are coming to the North Dakota National Guard as a result of BRAC, including details of the unmanned vehicle mission that has been under discussion with Air Force and Air National Guard officials.
