Hoeven Announces USDA Rural Development Funds For Southwest Area Pipeline Project
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has approved a loan of $1,999,000 and a grant of $1,524,000 to continue the Medora-Beach Regional Service Area portion of the Southwest Pipeline Project. The funding comes from the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program administered by Rural Development's Rural Utilities Service.
"This USDA funding will enable construction to continue on this very important water project for the people of southwestern North Dakota," Hoeven said. "It underscores President Bush's commitment to rural development."
In addition to the federal dollars, the state has provided a grant of $4,800,000 and the Southwest Water Authority $117,000 for the project. When completed, this leg of the project will bring good quality water to the city of Golva and about 273 rural users in the Beach and Golva Service Areas and Morton County.
