Hoeven: N.D. To Host Ag Secretary Johanns For Farm Bill Listening Session
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns will hold a listening session on the Farm Bill from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 26th at the State Fair in Minot, North Dakota. The room location will be announced at a later date. Hoeven will introduce the Secretary at the event. This will be Johanns’s second regional hearing on the farm support programs that will be reauthorized over the next few years.
“We’re pleased that Secretary Johanns has accepted our invitation to come to North Dakota again,” Hoeven said. “As one of the nation’s leading agricultural states, North Dakota is a logical venue for these important forums for public input.”
North Dakota is unique among agricultural states in that it produces a diversity of crops, according to Hoeven. North Dakota leads the nation in 12 major commodities.
“Agriculture is vitally important to this state and nation, and a strong farm program is essential to our producers,” Hoeven said. “We will continue to work hard to put one in place.”
