BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced that the Economic Development Foundation and the State Board of Higher Education have each appointed three members to the six-member Centers of Excellence Commission. Terms of office began on July 1, 2005.
“The Centers of Excellence Commission is now poised to help us take our economic development efforts to the next level by putting research and investment decisions into the hands of industry and higher education representatives,” Hoeven said.
Mark Nisbet, chairman of the Joint Committee on Economic Development Centers of Excellence, said: “The sessions that were held with the Gov. Hoeven at the universities and colleges where ideas were discussed and communities were involved created a groundswell of support for the effort. Thanks to the legislators for the hard work they did during the session, for their forward thinking, and especially to the members of the committee for laying the ground work.”
