Hoeven Announces $400,000 In U.S. Fish And Wildlife Grants To Spirit Lake Nation
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today announced two U.S. Fish and Wildlife grants totaling $400,000 for the Spirit Lake Nation.
The tribe has been awarded a Tribal Wildlife Grant for $250,000 for the Implementation of Biological Wildlife Surveys for a Wildlife Management Program. It has also been awarded a $150,000 grant for an Assessment of Flooded Habitats, Important Wildlife Habitats and the Development of a Land Use Plan under the Tribal Landowner Incentive Program.
The Tribal Landowner Incentive Program supports federally recognized Indian tribes to protect, restore, and manage habitat to benefit species at-risk, including federally listed endangered or threatened species, as well as proposed or candidate species on tribal lands.
The Tribal Wildlife Grant Program supports federally recognized Indian tribes to develop and implement programs that benefit wildlife and their habitat, including non-game species on tribal lands.
