Hoeven Congratulates Cirrus Design Corporation On Grand Forks Expansion
BISMARCK, N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven, along with company and local officials, celebrated the groundbreaking of a $12 million expansion to the Cirrus Design Corporation plant in the Grand Forks Industrial Park. The expansion will double the size of the plant to 160,000 square feet.
"Cirrus Design Corporation is a great example of existing businesses expanding in our state to take advantage of our highly skilled workforce and our low cost of doing business," Hoeven said. "Cirrus presently employs 255 at the Grand Forks plant, and with the expansion, plans to add more than 300 new jobs over the next three years."
The North Dakota Development Fund along with the Bank of North Dakota and the city of Grand Forks have partnered with Cirrus to finance the project.
"Advanced manufacturing is one of the five economic sectors that we have targeted for growth," Hoeven said. "Today's announcement is another example of how we are working together at the local, regional and state level to move North Dakota forward."
Cirrus, which has manufactured aircraft in Grand Forks for the past eight years, is the world's second largest manufacturer of single-engine, piston-powered aircraft.
