Statement Of Gov. John Hoeven On The Death Of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist
BISMARCK , N.D. - Gov. John Hoeven today issued the following statement in response to news of the death of United States Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist:
“For more than 30 years, Chief Justice William Rehnquist rendered opinions from the nation’s highest court with thoughtful deliberation and justice. His legacy will rest on his deep reverence for the document on which all of our rights and liberties depend, the United States Constitution, as well as his respect for the rights of states to determine their own affairs within its cherished principles. His good judgment and sense of history guided the court in accordance with the intent of our Founding Fathers, and secured the integrity of the Constitution for generations to come.
“North Dakotans join with Americans of all persuasions in extending our sympathy to his family and mourning the death of a great jurist and a great American.”
